SCCSA

THE CLASSIC SECTION

You do not have to own a Classic Car to participate in the Classic Section meetings and events. You join the Sporting Car Club of SA as a member, entitling you to participate in all sections. Whilst the Classic Section focuses mainly on cars over 20 years old and built after 1945, all of our meetings and some of our runs are suitable for owners of older cars. Enthusiasts with newer cars are welcome on any of our runs and events.

Classic Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month February to December. Monthly meetings provide a supper and have cars on stage covering the theme of the meeting. Classic Meeting themes vary but at least one or two are sponsored by dealers of new cars and feature cars of their brands, new and old.

Our Club Registration Day provides owners of Classic and other cars the opportunity to register with the Club. Cars are inspected and qualify for restoration awards and people’s choice for best car. A pair of Club Registration Plates and a Certificate are available after the day.

Other Classic Section Events are Old Keels and Wheels in conjunction with The Royal SA Yacht Squadron and our Annual Sunseeker in June, which is a 3 day event. Membership in the Classic Section will enable you to experience many of the benefits without necessarily purchasing a vehicle. The passenger seat of an Alfa Romeo Spyder might not be the driver’s seat, but it’s still better than the family car! Anyone who has participated in the “Bay to Birdwood Classic” will surely understand…
