April 17th meeting success! - Friday, 17 Apr 2009

Approximately 60 people attended this meeting with a spectacular three vehicle display on stage.

The evening's theme was "past, present and future", represented by..

Peter Allen's 1905 Pope Tribune, which took part in the original 1934 "Old Crocks' Run" - resulting in the Sporting Car Club's formation later that year, Peter Woods' immaculate 1933 Morris Coupé (Morris Register of SA) and John Beswick's superb 1951 Citroën 11BL "Traction" (Citroën Car Club of SA).

Each owner gave a brief description of their vehicle, after which we were entertained by Chairman John Ellis with long-standing member Digby Thomas giving an account of some of the escapades which took place during the early days of the Club.

Political Correctness, Occupational Health and Safety, and Public Liability considerations mean that these are mostly a thing of the past, although we can only try to imagine what some of the untold stories might have entailed!

Our very great thanks to all those who contributed to this meeting, a part of the celebrations through the year of the Sporting Car Club's formation 75 years ago.
